The 2017 Telus Junior Boys Basketball championships wrapped up with the Burnaby South Running Rebels scoring a decisive win over Sir Charles Tupper in the final game of the championship.
The opening quarter was close as the Tupper Tigers held a slight (14-11) lead over the Running Rebels from Burnaby, but the pace opened in the second quarter with a 18-6 scoring run proving to be the overall difference.
But it changed in the second quarter with Burnaby opening up a 8 point lead at the half outscoring the Tigers 21-10, taking a 32-24.
The second half and primarily the third quarter saw the teams swap points with the Rebels taking a 4 point lead.
In the final quarter the Rebels doubled the Tigers by a 16-8 and outscored the Tigers by a 14-12 margin proving to be the difference, increasing the lead to 44-38.
Burnaby South Running Rebels captured the Provincial title by a margin of 58-46 while runner-up Tigers from Sir Charles Tupper finished second for the Province title.
The third place game saw the North Delta Huskies defeat the West Vancouver Highlanders pulling off an impressive 53-42 win.
The game never really opened up till the half outscoring the Highlanders 43-32 in the second half pulling away from their opponents for the title.
The Huskies grabbed finished in third and the overall difference were the three point shots with Delta sinking 12 three-pointers to the Highlanders 7.
Both games were fast paced and exciting wrapping up the Junior Basketball for yet another season of B-Ball.
