Figure skating just isn’t the same without Canada’s sweetheart couple Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir who pulled off another impressive skate to win the ice dance event at the NHK Trophy, qualifying for the Grand Prix Final event.

After the short program the pair finished with a combined total of 195.84 points, narrowly edging the previous high set by Meryl Davis and Charlie White whose score was 195.52.

The pair call southern Ontario home with Virtue hailing from London, while Moir comes from Ilderton a few minutes north of London and half-way between Lake Erie and Lake Huron.

Their return this season saw them win the Autumn Classis earlier in September and Skate Canada’s event in October, with Virtue stating “It feels great to be back and we’re excited to build on this momentum as we head into the Grand Prix Final.”

The pair of Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who call France home placed second in the competition with 186.66 points, followed Italy’s by Anna Cappellini and Luna Lanotte with a score of 180.42.

The Grand Prix Final takes place in Marseille France running from December 8th-11th and features the top six (6) qualifiers in each discipline from the International Skating Union’s Grand Prix Series.

Congratulation to Tessa & Scott
