Bored – Try To Declutter
If you’re like me during this quarantine period, quite possibly you are trying to clean your house and the key word is trying.
While I attempt this, it seems others in the house don’t like the manner in which I move things from area to area in an attempt to reorganize the place, while cleaning at the same time.
As I struggle with this feat it seems that Christine has got this figured out with the help from a friend who enlightens us this week for Fitness Friday, so enjoy the read!!
While the world endures the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are in self-isolation or quarantine, which can lead to other issues involving mental health.
Things you otherwise would disregard in normal times can move to the forefront when you realize you’re dissatisfied, particularly those working from home.
It’s not enough to workout once a day to reduce stress and boost your immune system.
Ask yourself: Is my home environment healthy enough to be productive?
Sometimes a simple rearrangement of furniture or decluttering can boost your sense of accomplishment.
In an email Q & A with Interior Designer, Lucila Diaz, she offered some tips on how to create a healthy work environment from home.
Q: Where do we begin to create a workspace to be more productive?
A: The most important thing is that you designate a home office area, a place where you can “go to work” inside your home.
This is important because it will help you create a daily routine and structure to your day.
As well, it will allow you to “stop” working and focus on doing other things. People might find it very appealing at the beginning to work in their pajamas tucked inside their bed, but if you fall into this habit then soon that work never ends because you have invited work into the areas where you should be relaxing.
Once you have defined the space that will be your home office area, make sure that it is not cluttered so that you can focus.
The advantage of having a defined work area at home is that it sends the message to family members (especially if you have kids) that when you are in that space you need some quiet time because you are working.
Q: Which space which you recommend for working?
A: We are all interconnected to the space and the objects that surround us. If possible, I recommend selecting as your designated work area a place that receives natural light.
Don’t be afraid to move or rearrange the furniture. During the coming weeks, it will be more important to have a great working space than a living room than can sit 10!
Make sure you have a comfortable chair to sit on and stand up and stretch as often as you can. If you can’t place your workspace near a window, bring some plants inside even if they are small.
Now more than ever it is crucial that we adapt our interiors to keep our connection with nature.
Q: How can one stay motivated at home working, while raising kids?
A: It is essential that we do not lose social interaction; we have great social networks, so now is the time to use them. Make a routine – getting dressed is very important because at the end of the day, you get to put on your pajamas.
Families have an even bigger challenge, as any anxiety will be passed on to the kids, so being happy and positive is crucial.
Also you need to have something to look forward to every day. What we have been doing for our family is to have each family member teach the rest of the family something new every day – from basic household things like learning how to sew, how to play a new game, to how to bake cookies, this gives each member the opportunity to lead, research, learn, and keeps everyone busy and motivated.
Last but not least, include in your daily routine some time to exercise.
Q: Can one be more creative when working from home?
A: Great artists have created amazing pieces of art while in solitude, which by definition is different from isolation, as one is voluntary and the latter is imposed.
But that does not mean that we don’t take this opportunity and seize the moment. It is up to us to decide who you want to be during these times.
You can make the conscious decision to elevate your vibration so that you can grow and start to live more in the present moment, become more grateful, start to think about others and how you can help them and in the process of doing so, you might create new things and discover what your purpose in life is.

A: Just as we are all taking such good care of our physical health, let’s not neglect our mental health.
Start one step at a time and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
