Four-Goal Performance For Whitecaps

While the Whitecaps host Chivas they remain two points ahead of FC Dallas in fifth and final spot in the Western Conference.

They are looking for their first win since August 11th this time in front of 17,777 fans.

There previous win was when they defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1, which was the Clubs second consecutive draw, thereby making it seven straight games without a win.

Keeper Brad Knighton recorded his first shutout and his last one was playing for Philly against Chivas in 2010. Notable games mark Whitecaps FC Captain Jay Demerit making his 50th appearance.

He scored his lone MLS goal and also the match winner when the two met March 17th. For games taking place on Wednesday following a Sunday game, the Cap’s have a record of 0 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws through the 2012 season.

The past while I have been asked where they are based out of LA in the suburb of Carson City.

They were named Deportivo Chivas USA and became MLS’ eleventh team upon their expansion in 2004. Chivas means “Goats” in Spanish and is the nickname of CD Guadalajara.

All of the home games are at The Home Depot Center which is also home of the LA Galaxy.

Entering the final month the Cap’s are 10 wins, 12 losses and 9 draws while Chivas has 7 wins, 16 losses and 7 draws.

This match saw the Cap’s start strong and with Miller busting down the right side he fed Koffie who drilled it in the bottom left corner in the 11th minute.

Shortly following this Miller was replaced by Dane Richards who put the Caps up 2 nil in the 35th minute who took a drop from a patiently waiting Camilo who took this 2 nil lead to the dressing room for the first half.

Four additional minutes were added due to injury timeout by the game referee Hilario Grajeda, who earlier this year dished a “yellow card” to Beckham who was suspended for one game. Beckham wasn’t pleased to say the least!

The second half the Cap’s started where they left off with a strong presence from everyone. No taking time off, no diving and expecting a call and no getting frustrated when and if things went wrong.

The second half saw the Caps continue to play strong seeing Camilo get the third marker in minute 62 only to be followed by Robson in minute 74.

The Whitecaps play Portland following a two week break, then head to Salt Lake to close out the regular season.

Most would think this is the worst possible time for the Cap’s to have a break given the fact this was a confidence builder of sort.

Miller left the game with an injury after he set up Koffie’s goal, and joins Darren Mattocks and John Thorrington with ham string pulls.

The two weeks off might get some injured players back to the line-up and Coach Martin Rennie is hoping for positive things to come.

Plan on attending the whitecap’s next home game and cheer on the Blue and White!!
