Delta’s Troy Brouwer Signs Extension

Former North Delta Minor Hockey Player Troy Brouwer is set to make Washington his home for at least the next three years.

Just a few short days before the CBA will run out, the Washington Capitals Ownership have re-signed Troy (winger) to a three-year $11 million contract extension.

Cap’s GM spent time in Vancouver prior to joining the Capitals for five seasons as the VP and Director of Hockey Operations as well as alternate governor for the Vancouver Canucks, assisting then general manager Pat Quinn with all hockey-related matters.

He went on to state “Troy is a physical and versatile power forward who can play both wings and who has averaged close to 20 goals in the past three seasons.”  “He is a Stanley Cup winner and a great leader. We are thrilled that he will continue his career in Washington for many years to come.”Brouwer’s cap hit under the current CBA will be $3.67 million when his contract kicks in for the 2013-14 season.

His cap hit for 2012-13 is $2.35 million, so the 27-year-old is getting himself a nice raise after an 18-goal campaign in which he led Washington with 247 hits.

Everyone in Delta remembers Troy when he brought the Stanley Cup to Delta at the Sungod Arena for all minor hockey players to see and take part in. He took the time to say “hi” and shake everyone’s hand that attended.

This was organized through the Corporation of Delta and Delta Minor Hockey working with President Mr. George Windsor.

Troy won the Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 after defeating the Canucks, prior to the trade to the Caps the following summer.

Congrat’s to Troy and his Family!!!
