Events include training opportunities, workshops, webinars and celebrations of the work of volunteer and community coaches.

Coaches Association are pleased to announce that Dave Brett has been selected as the recipient of the Recreational/Grassroots Coach of the Year Award.

Coaches BC will be making a formal announcement on their website and through social media in September during Coaches Week at which time he will be recognize for his remarkable contribution to boxing.

“We know how much coaches mean to young people in the development of athletic skills, however maybe more importantly is the value they bring to the development of an athlete as a person,” says Scott Ackles Chief Executive Officer of BC Sport Agency. “Coaches shape the confidence of young people and their ability to cope with challenging situations.

We applaud and celebrate the contribution of coaches to the development of sport in BC”.

Griffins Boxing & Fitness owner/coach Dave Brett is thrilled about receiving this award and has just been appointed to the Coaches Rep Position for Boxing BC: “I have been a long time advocate of Amateur Boxing, and I have created an environment in my gym that promotes positive changes in people’s lives.

We provide ‘training you for life’ in an environment conducive to positive relationships, fostering self-discipline and confidence through self-respect.”

This proof of dedication, training and discipline can be seen in Griffins’ recreational boxing members, their technical Glove System students, and members of their own in house Amateur Boxing team.

About Griffins Boxing & Fitness

In 2004, Griffins Boxing and Fitness opened its doors, and became a true boxing club for the community with over 900 members and counting.

Dave developed the Glove System as a goal setting system which is the first of its kind in Boxing.

The System shines a new light onto an Olympic sport, and shows that boxing can be taught in a step-wise process, using non-contact techniques.

The Glove System has helped the community by getting Youth off the street, aiding in goal setting, confidence building and a general increase in fitness.

For adults the same, fitness and skills have reached for a whole new level, and the “Glove System” is the tool that is being used to achieve this.

This is huge in boxing, and huge in our community, and Griffins Boxing and Fitness is the frontier of this developmental change.

Dave Brett and the entire Griffins team are excited to accept this award.
