C’s Return Home

The Vancouver Canadians return to the “Nat” following a nearly two week absence, which included three days off for the All-Star break.

Tonight’s game see’s Wanding handling the duties on the mound for the C’s in this three game series.

The previous three games series at the Nat was over the Canada Day weekend that saw them drop the first pair, but rebounded in the third game pulling off a 10-6 win.

Reflecting back to August 6th in 2011 the C’s defeated Spokane in the final of a five games by a 2-1 margin.

Over 45 games the Canadian’s have only managed to win one when they have less than four runs.

However if they score more than four runs they have an impressive record of 18-9 on the season.

For those who have not been able to attend a game this season at the Nat, you should make plans on attending before this short-season single A comes to a close.

With the addition of approximately 850 new seats extending down the third base line and behind LF fence in the new “Hey-Y”all” Porch it only adds to the overall environment of the game.mascott

The Indians enter the game tonight with the same record (3-4) as the C’s have a home record of 8-13, while the road record is 11-13 over the season to date.

The Blue Jay’s affiliate teams date back to 1977 where they had one farm team in Short-Season A being that of Utica.

Since that date they have expanded they affiliations and entering the 2015 season they have eight teams as follows.

AAA – Buffalo, AA – New Hampshire, Adv A – Dunedin, A – Lansing and Short-Season Single A is Vancouver.

It’s interesting to note that the senior baseball writer for ESPN, ESPN.com and ESPN Scouts Keith Law has ranked the Blue Jays farm system 19th overall.

He was formerly a writer for Baseball Prospectus and worked in the front office for the Toronto Blue Jays as well as a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Another interesting stat relates to Team Salaries where the LA Dodgers are ranked first at $227,329,905 while the Blue Jay’s are ranked 13th for an annual payroll of $115,901,600.

The Arizona Diamondbacks sit in 30th at an annual salary of $56,270,333.
