Stop Texting – Watch The Game!!

When you attend any sporting event, you seldom think of safety, especially to yourself.

You attend with the fullest intentions of spending time with your friends and Family members, having fun and cheering for your team.

Accidents can and will happen and one that comes to mind of a young 13 year-old girl (Brittanie Cecil) who was struck in the head by a careening puck at an NHL game in Columbus, two day’s before her 14th Birthday.

Announcers at sporting games Pro and Amateur read a warning notice the crowd prior to the start of the game to watch for flying objects and most if not all clubs put a similar warning on their scoreboard.

In addition this same warning is printed on the back of every game ticket, so as to put the onus on the fan’s attending.

Now we hear the sad news of a young nine year-old batboy (Kaiser Carlile) who sadly died after being inadvertently struck by a baseball player taking practice swings during a National Baseball Congress World Series game.

The Liberal Bee Jays, a summer collegiate baseball team officially confirmed the news on social media.

The release stated “With the permission of the family, and with much sorrow and a very broken heart, I regretfully inform everyone that Kaiser Carlile passed away earlier this evening. Please keep his family and our team in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for the support during this ordeal.”

According to NBC New the injury happened during a game between the Bee Jays and San Diego Waves.

You would think that the team would have something up on the home page, but they don’t – no photo, no tribute – just nothing, but their Facebook page isn’t available at this time.

The young batboy (Carlile) was wearing a helmet, was returning a bat to the dugout, as stated by team president Nathan McCaffrey.

Emergency medical services personnel, who were already on the scene to help a fan suffering from dizzy spells, quickly attended to Carlile and took him to Via Christi St. Francis hospital in Wichita, Kansas, in critical condition.

Our thoughts go out to the Family and to everyone that say “it won’t happen to me” – think again.

Put your phone down, stop texting and watch the game.

You’ll be surprised how much you enjoy it!!
