Most sports seem to excel during the Christmas break and it’s this time of the year when things really heat up in races, standings and the level of competition between all athlete’s.
For one sport there was (seemingly) not much advancement, that being in the World Cup standing for Skiing.
Canada’s Erik Guay’s (62) captured Bronze on the strength of skier Erik Guay’s bronze performance, is one medal short of Russia (63) putting him in third place.
Guay grabbed a third-place finish in the men’s World Cup downhill in Bormio, Italy this past weekend and the young skier from Mont-Tremblant grabbed his 21st career podium result, beating the Canadian record which was previously held by the one known as “Crazy Canuck” Steve Podborski.
Guay’s accomplishment came a short one week after he won the downhill race in Val Gardena, Italy.
The only area in which there was any advancement was in the World Cup standings was seeing Austria (50) leapfrog Norway (47) moving them into sixth place.
