The Canadian Men’s National Team cruised to a commanding 9-0 win in five innings over Ecuador at the Pan American Games.

Team Canada grabbed three runs in the bottom of the first inning as Richmond’s Bryan Abrey singled and scored on a two-run homerun over the left-center field fence by Stephen Mullaley.

Mark Johnson from Glencoe got a walk, stole second and scored on a well placed double by Jason Hill.

Canada added two more runs in the second as Brennan Pokoyoway led off with a walk, stole second and was brought around to score on a two-out single by Johnson.

Mullaley also scored in the inning as he walked and was also pushed to the plate on a two-out single by Andy Skelton (Newmarket, ON).

Canada added four more in the fourth as Brandon Horn and Abrey both singled. With runners on the corners, Canada attempted a double steal but Horn was thrown out at the plate.

It was the first time in five games that Canada had a runner thrown out on an attempted steal. Mullaley then walked to put runners on first and second, and with two outs, Skelton doubled to score a run, and Hill singled to score Skelton to make the score 9-0.

Skelton and Hill each had a pair of hits and two runs batted in while Abrey grabbed a pair of hits. Mullaley had a homerun, two runs batted in and scored three times, while Johnson added a hit and an RBI.

After loading the bases with two walks and an error to the first three batters of the game, Brady Woods settled down by allowing only one hit and striking out 12 in the five inning game.

He issued four walks.
