Benson’s Return All Positive

He’s been out since training camp due to a lower-body injury and given his return the Giants were looking at pulling out a win over the Seattle Thunderbirds, but it wasn’t the case for the G-Men.

It was interesting to see Benson taking the pre-game, then leave the ice after getting hit with a puck forcing him to miss the first 10 minutes, returning with stitches at the side of his mouth.

The Giants were looking at rebounding following on home ice after the previous two games against Tri-City (2-1 win) and Red Deer (6-4 loss).

The 6-game recent road trip started in Prince Albert (October 2nd) and ended in Swift Current (October 10th) saw them get outscored 35-23 wasn’t what bench-boss Lorne Molleken had in mind.

This game had the makings of a solid game and the 4,172 fans were entertained to a couple of good scraps in the first period as Dakota Odgers and Keegan Kolesar dropped the gloves.

This was followed by the heavy-weight bout as Josh Thrower and Luke Osterman went toe to toe where both landed some heavy punches.

Seattle opened the scoring at 1:55 in the second as Alexander True cashed Payton Lee when he knocked the puck through the feet only after he misplayed the puck.
New York Islanders pick Mathew Barzal gave the “T-Birds” a 2-0 lead when he managed to score on the PP from the top of the circle after being set up by Ethan Bear at 7:33.
The third period saw Benson get his first of the season cutting the lead to 2-1 after he banked the puck in from beside the net off Taz Burman.
Twenty-five seconds later Seattle restored their two goal lead with a goal from Keegan Kolesar at the 16:00 minute mark after being set-up by Barzal.
The game was entertaining and those attending in the Delta TV Suite were thoroughly entertained.
The Giants play Sunday hosting the PG Cougars with former Toronto Blue Jay Joe Cater making a rare appearance at the Coliseum.
At this game  150 lucky fans will win and meet and greet the Blue Jay’s Super-Star.
Payton Lee stopped 35 of the 38 shots for the G-men while Seattle’s Taz Burman turned aside 21 of 22 shots.
