BCHL Action

Two games in the BCHL on Wednesday (January 21^st) that can effect the standings in the stretch drive of the BCHL 2014-15 season.

In Langley at the Rivermen defeated the Chilliwack Chiefs 4-3 to regain top spot in the Mainland Division and snagging the game winner for Langley was Kevin Kilistoff.

Also scoring for Langley were Mathew Graham on the PP at 16:34 of the first followed by Gage Torrel at 17:38.

Other markers for the Rivermen were Erik Udahl (8:39), while Kevan Killstoff got the final of the night at 13:08.

Bo Didur stopped 31 of the 34 shots for the win, while David Jacobson faced 34, being replaced at 13:08 of the third.

Aidan Pelino played the remaining time for the Chiefs facing 2 shots.

Craig Puffer opened the scoring at 11:12 of the first to allowing them to take a 1-0 lead only allowing the Rivermen to get a PP marker at 16:34 followed by a second goal 1:04 later taking a 2-1 lead to the dressing room after one.

Craig Puffer tied the game for Chilliwack at 3:34 in only to be followed by another Chiefs goal 14 seconds later grabbing a 3-2 lead after two.

Langley proved too much for the Chiefs to handle as they got two more in the third to pull off a 4-3 win improving their record to 24-16-1-4 for 53 points.

One up on the Chiefs who sit with a record of 25-15-1-1 with 52 points as the BCHL moves toward the season’s end of regulation season play.

The race between both Langley and the Chiefs is to see who will finish first grabbing first in the Mainland Division.

In Alberni Valley the Bulldogs moved to within three points of the Victoria Grizzlies with an exciting 4-3 win at the Weyerhaeuser Arena.

Victoria jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one and both were on the power play, something that the Bulldogs must be concerned about.

The second saw the teams trade goals with Alberni getting within one at 10:56 only to allow Victoria to grab a shorthanded marker at 14:01 taking a 3-1 lead to the dressing room.

Whatever was said between periods must have worked as Alberni came out with a jump scoring a short 22 second in, only to be followed by another two minutes later making it a 3-3 game.

The game winner was put in by Scott Clark at the 11:18 mark giving Alberni a 4-3 lead with under nine minutes remaining.

Alberni Valley improved to 20-16-2-3 with 45 points, three back of the Grizzlies 19-15-1-9 with 48.
