Saturday July 9th saw Rogers Arena host the first “Ball Hockey with Heart Charity” working in conjunction with White Rock Ball Hockey League.
The charity fundraiser was for the BC Children’s Hospital and for those taking part they received a Canucks Regular Season Game Ticket, a tour of the Arena and a chance for the team/family to meet a Canucks Alumni all in hopes of helping a great cause.
The event was open to both divisions for the league, which saw both Men’s and Youth division’s face-off in a day of fun and excitement.
It was organized by league executive and working with Austin Takashi it proved to be a huge success.
Canucks worked extremely hard to help accommodate the team and made possible the accessibility for “Captain Kirk” to be on hand for an interaction session with everyone attending.
While the event was held in July, it was mostly due to the booking of the arena that made this date the chosen one.
True some youth players were on holidays at this date and I am hearing that the Canucks and Rogers Arena are working with the league to secure a more beneficial time and date for the league in 2017.
Thanks to Eric and Lance Parker for stepping up to officiate the games as well as a “thanks” to the league organizers for making this a reality.
