Not everyone has the chance to take part in a Championship event, but when your opportunity comes you take it.

Now we are hearing that a pair of beach volleyball players from Nanaimo are heading to Winnipeg to represent Team BC for the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

Jeff Webb and Isaac Bevis both have sights set on finishing in the top three and when asked they mentioned “our goal is to medal, that would be honestly the best thing ever and we are excited to play all the top-level teams in Canada, see what each province has.”

In order to prepare the team travelled to Huntington Beach and took part in the U.S.A. Volleyball Collegiate Championships early in July allowing them the opportunity to play against high-level competition.

Their coach thinks the players’ goal of finishing top three are extremely realistic and it should be noted that there are a dozen other athletes from Nanaimo and surrounding area that are going to the Canada Games.

  • Track & Field Rebecca Bassett, Miryam Bassett and Isaac Sandri
  • Track & Field Coach Allen Johnston.
  • Canoe/Kayak Cameron Antifave
  • Rowing Riley Knight
  • Softball Charlie Andrews
  • BC Baseball Josh Laukkanen

Team BC honorary Captain mentioned to the media “With such a strong roster of athletes from across the province, I know Team B.C. will be the team to watch at these games.”
