The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that former CFL and NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia will be the keynote speaker at the 2015 Orange Helmet Awards slated for the evening of Wednesday, April 15 at the Westin Bay Shore presented by Coast Capital Savings.
“Jeff enjoyed a long and successful football career in both leagues and has an amazing story to tell,” said director of community relations, Jamie Taras.
“We have been very fortunate with the quality of speakers that have appeared at previous OHA’s and Jeff will undoubtedly provide us with an emotional and uplifting presentation.”
A 17-year career as a professional football player, including four CFL All-Star campaigns and a 1988 Grey Cup championship, preceded by an inspiring story of overcoming personal tragedy, makes Jeff’s life journey both unique and remarkable.
Whether it’s donating funds to upgrade facilities at his former high school, junior college and university or his ongoing support of various charities through his Pass It On foundation, Jeff’s appearance at this year’s OHA’s is sure to be a memorable one.
Now in its 12th year and having raised more than $750,000, the Orange Helmet Awards dinner is a marquee event on the BC Lions calendar.
Proceeds from the night support amateur football in the province of British Columbia and honour champions at all levels from last season.
Created by Lions late president and CEO Bob Ackles, the awards also recognize pioneers of the sport in our province, outstanding coaches and those who have spent years in support of grassroots football development.
