Make Plans Visit The Doug Husband Discovery Centre

Delta Sports Hall of Fame

The City of Delta offers various things to do regardless of the time of the year you stop in for a visit and it’s fair to mention that unless you live in Ladner or Tsawassen you might not know about this impressive centre.

Having the luxury to live in Delta since 77 there has been many changes from Scott Road being only two lanes, Scottsdale Bowling Lanes located where Save On is now located with many more.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to grab various interviews with Delta’s former Mayor Doug Husband who has sadly passed away.

I have covered events for Delta TV, now Eastlink TV along with Kevin Adlem and the one thing with the politicians in Delta is that they are always open for any interview that I have request, which we greatly appreciate.

His legacy lives on and I would be remiss if I failed to mention that he was so very personable and eager to talk about Delta and what it offers to it’s residents as well as those who are missing out living in Delta.

Delta offers several amenities for everyone and it’s not just sports which there are many but along with this there is the Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre located adjacent to City Hall.

It offers you the chance to connect with Delta which has grown to become the City of Delta and allows you to connect with the past and the major steps that have transformed it to a major role in the lower mainland.

But given the growth, does the future hold and that question alone ponders you the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane and visit the Centre.

The following was posted on the City’s FaceBook page and since I live in Delta I wanted to  share it with you.

Enjoy the read and thanks to the City for posting it on-line!!!

Featuring authentic objects, digital experiences, and fascinating stories, all are welcome to engage with Delta’s storied history.

Learn by using the touchscreens in our galleries and creating new land forms in our sand table. Watch our water table demonstrate how the region of Delta was formed over 9000 years and use a wand to activate the animals in the habitat theatre. Visit and discover Delta today!

The Discovery Centre aims to be an inclusive and accessible environment for all of its patrons.

If you or a member of your group that you are visiting has an accessibility need, we would be happy to discuss and prepare with you prior to your visit.

Please call our Education Coordinator, Kendall Kloosterman at 604-952-3838 or email at kkloosterman@delta.ca. We look forward to having you at the Discovery Centre!

Sensory Friendly Mornings

Join staff every Saturday from 11am-12pm and Mondays from 9-10am for a sensory friendly morning.
