13 Medals On Day 12
The individual time trials saw Canada manage to grab three medals in Toronto at the 2015 Pan Am Games.
The men’s 37km event saw Hugo Houle grab Gold in a time of 45:13.48, finishing 1:17.87 ahead of Silver Medallist Ignacio Prado of Mexico.
Sean MacKinnon a fellow Canadian grabbed Bronze in the team pursuit, finished 20 second back to take another bronze medal.
Having Family and Friends driving in from his hometown of Sainte-Perpétue, Quebec, saw Houle put on a display as he was racing for his brother Pierrik who sadly passed away in December 2012 after a hit and run accident while jogging.
“I had a really hard time in 2012 when I lost my brother. Now I am back and I raced for him today so I am glad I made it (to the top of the podium). Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes it doesn’t pay off. But we need to be strong and keep going. Today was a successful day and we made it and I’m happy for that.”
Women’s 400 Hurdles saw Sarah Wells take Silver as she ran a time of 56.17 finishing behind Shamier Little from the US, but slightly ahead of Deborah Rodriguez who had a time of 56.41.
Melissa bishop won Gold in the Women’s 800 m event with a time of 1.59.62 and Andre De Grasse took Gold in the Men’s 100m finishing with a time of 10.05.
Great showing by our Canadian Athlete’s.
