Would You Go Back?

While Coquitlam and Six Nations are playing exciting lacrosse at the Minto Cup at the LEC, it’s a game such as this that has Parents wondering why they should sign their “kids” up to play Lacrosse.

No it’s not the normal thing to do, but in this case the WLA teams, clearly showed an extremely lack of class and professionalism toward anyone playing the game.

Parents ponder the idea of signing up the kids to play, but really is this what the sport is about and given all the suspensions why not discipline the Coaches too, not to mention the $1000.00 fine.

If you are going to hit a team where it hurts it’s in the pocket book so should they have been nailed with a $5000.00 fine or possibly more.

Following an extensive brawl between the Burrards and Victoria where the third period was fight filled at one point, it does have some questioning “is this needed in the game or not?”

Suspensions from a brawl in Game 2 of the WLA final will be  dished out and the league was quick to react to this disgrace from both teams, to which many are pleased took place by the league.

The WLA suspended two members of the Victoria Shamrocks and three members of Maple Ridge Burrards a combined nine games for their roles in this poor display that took place in Game 2 of the best of seven in Maple Ridge.

The Burrards are in the league final for the first time since 1990, when John Tavares was a senior rook and the team was still based in Vancouver.

Victoria’s Bubba Westwood received three games for leaving the bench, while teammate Ben McCullough was assessed a two-game penalty for the same infraction.

Maple Ridge’s Kevin Reid got two games for “prolonging a fight and hitting a player in a vulnerable and defenseless position.”

Aaron Davis received one game for that infraction, while Tyler Codron got one game for being third man in an altercation.

Both clubs were fined $1,000 and here’s the release to indicate the logic of the league.
