Whitecaps Signings

While there are no matches currently being played at BC Place for the Vancouver Whitecaps have been busy in the off-season and are making a run in the 2024 MLS Playoffs.

This coming season for the Vancouver Whitecaps will see them celebrate a milestone season hitting the pitch for their 50th anniversary.

The downside to the start of the season is that they will be without Head Coach Vanni Sartini for a short duration all due to a suspension in place by the league following the last playoff match with comments mentioned about the game referee.

Frustration did get the better of him which happens in all sports which the league felt were not just uncalled for but all disrespectful toward a league Referee.

The MLS SuperDraft was held December 19 where they selected Eliot Goldthorp and Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau who will be a welcome addition to the Club.

Eliot Goldthorp

• Two seasons at Hofstra University, recording 25 goals and 21 assists in 42 starts and 43 appearances
• 2023 Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Year
• Nine goals and two assists in 12 USL League Two appearances with Des Moines Menace
• Played in the academies of Manchester United for Leeds United prior to playing first team football at Bradford City

Goldthorp (22) calls Leeds England home and was a second round selection (45th overall) and played the previous two seasons at Hofstra University. 

There he collected 25 goals, 21 assists, 42 starts in 43 appearances and led the NCAA with 15 assists. 

He became the first US Coach First Team All-American in their history being named the Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Year. 

He was a Second Team All-American, First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association, and the CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player in 2022

Nicolas Fleuriau 

In addition they also signed 21 year-old Fleuriau Chateau selected in the third round (74th) from St. John’s University. 

He comes from the Nation’s Capital (Ottawa) and in 2023 he was named to the All-Big East First Team leading the team with 14 goals, 1 assist in 17 appearances which was remarkable considering that in 2022 he tore his ACL.
He appeared in 13 matches during his sophomore season which was prior to his sophomore season and helped the Red Storm to an 11-6-3 record which was a third place finish in the Big East NCAA Tournament where they earned a berth in the second round.
