While the MLS season is just over a week away, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC are making moves for the future of the club.

With the situation involving Camilo in the off-season, it’s clear to say it caught everyone by surprise – if not shock.

A new Coach brings in new ideas, new patterns on the field and a new perspective on how to deal with soccer both on and off the pitch.

With high aspirations they dealt the rights to Midfielder Daigo Kobayashi to the New England Revolution for a fourth-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

Kobayashi a young 36 came to the Whitecaps from J-League side Shimizu S-Pulse and in his 32 appearances with the club he scored three goals and added four assists last season.

The Whitecaps declined to pick up his 2014 contract, but still controlled his MLS rights, and while he was with the team he was currently “on trial” with the club in pre-season training.

New Head Coach Carl Robinson stated “Daigo is a good person and player but we just didn’t see a spot for him on the team moving forward and we wish him the best of luck in New England.”

The Whitecaps are in preseason action in the Rose City Invitational tournament.
