Wesley/Hamilton Traded

The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club announced two trades following the game against Medicine Hat Tigers.

The team have acquired forward Zane Jones from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for prospect forward Johnny Wesley.

Previously he has had a stint with the Richmond Sockeyes in the PJHL, prior to being selected by the Giants

In addition they have traded forward Joel Hamilton to the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a sixth round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

“We’re excited to add a player of Zane’s calibre to our line-up,” said Giants General Manager Scott Bonner.”

He continued “He’s a top level goal scorer who brings size as well, and we think he’ll be a great fit with our current group.”

Jones comes from Olds, Alberta and has netted 18 goals and 12 assists in 36 games with the Hurricanes this season in addition to racking up 25 penalty minutes.

The 20-year-old is also a former member of the Everett Silvertips, Calgary Hitmen and Victoria Royals.

Hamilton played 110 games in a Giants uniform over parts of two seasons, tallying 23 goals and 50 assists during his time in Vancouver.

The Giants are in action on Saturday night in Portland against the Winterhawks. Face-off is set for 7:00pm.

Vancouver’s next home game is on Friday, January 16th when the Tri-City Americans visit the Pacific Coliseum on Jon Blum Bobble-head Night!
