Volumn 2 – Great Read

Congratulations to the Burnaby Brewers, winners of the Second Annual Al Lexier Pink Bat Draw.

The 2014 event was well supported by LMBA teams and players as we will be making a donation of $400 to British Columbia Baseball Umpires Association (BCBUA) in Al’s memory.

Last year, the LMBA made an initial donation of $620 to BCBUA consisting of a $500 legacy grant and a further donation of $120 from our inaugural pink bat draw held at our Twentieth Anniversary celebrations.

Al’s grandson, Bryson Lexier picked the winning ticket and the Brewers were the recipients of a brand new KR3 pink bat.  Al Lexier was the LMBA’s Umpire-in-Chief from 1996 – 2013 and he established an umpire pool for our league in its developmental stages.

He was a long time member of the LMBA Executive and his contributions to our group were invaluable.

Al was keenly interested in the development of youth umpires and we are pleased to direct our donation towards that purpose.

We plan to continue recognizing Al with an annual donation to a cause very important to him.

Thanks to everyone who got involved, with a special thanks to the Burnaby Pirates who bought $90 in tickets – we will see if we can get you a good used bat.
