The Vancouver Canadians once again host one of the many “Superstars of Summer” series with mega baseball superstars coming to the “Nat” in a way of attracting more fans.

Not that they really need these individuals to come to the “Nat” as they are currently the “hottest ticket” in town with sellout after sellout, especially for the “Nooners”.

Not only do they put a successful and professional product on the diamond, the team has one of the best young (to my liking) broadcasters in the industry.

He started his career as a reporter with News 1130 working with Gary Rabile and has had the chance to do voice-overs for the acclaimed NHL Hockey Series beginning with NHL ’11.

Other names that are associated with this series include Bill Clement, Gary Thorne, Ray Ferraro, Ed Olczyk and Doc Emrick and the series was the winner of 27 Sports Game of the Year Awards.

Rob’s daily duties include play-by-play, pre-game and post-game shows as well as weekly talk show as well as he travels with the team to all road games, thus making sure that all 76 broadcasts are worked in a professional manner.

Heading into the 2015 season he had called 599 baseball games in Northwest League that included three (3) consecutive Championships that were from 2011 to 2013.

This is the first and only time any Vancouver-based professional sports team has ever won three straight titles and many are questioning if this will ever happen again?

2017 Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game

The 2017 Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game was a dream come true for Vancouver Canadians broadcaster Rob Fai as this was his first chance to get the call and for Rob it was indeed a “dream job”.

The event itself for players of both leagues was probably one of the best moments they have had to date in their short career and no doubt a highlight to remember.

The Pioneer League opened the scoring with runs in the top of the 2nd that featured a two-run single from Dallas Carroll that saw the sell-out crowd at Ron Tonkin Field.

Canadians RHP William Ouellette shut down the rally with Luis Paz ending the rally at four with the Pioneer League leading until the bottom of the 5th.

Canadians RHP Orlando Pascual pitched a scoreless top of the 7th allowing one hit, while walking one and striking out two ending the inning.

Toronto Blue Jays 3rd rounder Riley Adams managed a hit in his only at-bat grabbing a single in the bottom of the 2nd while catching four different NWL pitchers before giving way to Daulton Varsho of the hometown Hillsboro Hops.

The game had 27 line-up changes, saw 21 different pitchers and still took just three hours and eight minutes to play.  

The Vancouver Canadians All-Stars will remain in Hillsboro with the rest of the squad joining them to open up a five-game series at Ron Tonkin Field.
