With the trading deadline around the corner, it will be interesting to see who get’s moved from what team and the reasons why?

The discussion around who to trade has had the Scouts talking for the past while, so it’s important that they get and make the right pick, not only for this year, but the future of the team.

Starting early for the trade sees the Portland Winterhawks exchange goaltenders with the Hitmen.

In return they acquire (rookie) Evan Johnson along with a fourth round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, in exchange for Burke.

Johnson has played in 15 games for the Hitmen compiling a record of 5-3-1-1, with a GAA of 2.84 and .894 SV%.

The 2014-15 season was Burke’s fourth with the Winterhawks, with a record of 7-8-0-3, a goals against average of 3.63 and .888 save percentage.

Burke departs Portland with a career record of 72-25-4-6, and a career goals against average of 2.95 and .902 save percentage.

He also has eight career shutouts, and was a member of the 2013 WHL Championship team. Burke was a sixth round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

“Brendan has had a great career on and off the ice with the Winterhawks,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “He’s been a key contributor to the success the team has enjoyed in the last four years and we wish him the best as he continues his career in Calgary.”

It was great to see Burke play in Vancouver against the Giants a short while ago and we wish him all the best in Calgary and the snow.
