Tough Loss For Lions

The Eskimos handed the BC Lions a loss, considering that both clubs have qualified for the post season, especially since the Eskimos clinched second in the west.
The win see’s them improve to 12-5 while the Lions fell to 9-8 tied for third with the Saskatchewan Roughriders who have also clinched a playoff spot with the same 9-8 record.
The first quarter was close as Edmonton’s O’Neill kicked a 47 yard field goal giving them a 3-0 lead, followed by a drive converting into a TD by Mike Kelly following a 2 yard run putting them a 10-0.
The lions came back closing the gap to a converted TD as McCallum’s field goal from 21 yards after the Leos drive stalled, making 10-3 game for Edmonton.
The second quarter Edmonton got a running TD from White from 10 yards out to extend the lead to 17-3, then added a field goal from O’Neill from 44 yards out to make it 20-3 at the half.
Edmonton dominated the second half as their defense played exceptional as Reilly managed a 1 yard run madding it 27-3 a short 5:52 in and O’Neill with his third Field goal from 15 yards out a chip shot extended the lead to 30-3 after three quarters for the Eskimos.
Edmonton the scoring off on a lone TD on a 5 yard run by McCarty, making the final score 37-3 that saw 26,388 fans at Commonwealth Stadium go home happy.
One positive note for the Lions on this night was seeing linebacker Solomon Elimimian surpassing the CFL record for most tackles by a DP in a season, managing 12 in the game giving him 131 in the 2014 season.
