Salmon Arm is hosting the top U18 female hockey players from around the province in the 2014 Female U18 BC Cup next week.
Season long evaluation data was tabulated, and based on their performance with their club team during the 2013 – 2104 season, 80 players (8 goalies, 24 defence and 48 forwards) have been invited to the tournament which runs from April 23-27.
Seven players from Kelowna and West Kelowna were also chosen, including Carla Goodwin (Furies); Christy Blackburne, Abby Cook, Kennedy Kneller and Danielle Hardy (Thunder); Alexandra Larson and Breanna Berndsen (Stars).
The BC Cup is a jamboree between four teams and players will be evaluated based on the games they play in over the weekend.
The Female U18 BC Cup is the first stage in the formation of Team BC which will participate at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George.
Following the U18 BC Cup, the top players will advance to the U18 Provincial Camp in Lake Cowichan May 16 – 19, 2014.

I am only assuming that they are using some of the top Female Officials for this event, rather than male officials as it is about growing the program in all ways.
Congratulation to everyone for making this selection process.
