The Thunder rolled into Coquitlam Wednesday night to visit the 2016 Minto Cup Champions in the first meeting of the season and shocked by the hometown fans by stealing a 9-6 victory.

Coquitlam featured  on a comfortable 4-1 lead entering the third, but the third was anything but the Thunder were anything but friendly for the Adanacs.

The Adanacs controlled the game over the opening two periods taking a 3-0 lead to the room after one as well as out-shooting the Thunder by a 18-8 margin as Langley’s Jake Sundar kept his team in the game.

The third was the comeback period for the Thunder as they managed to score four straight taking a 5-4 lead only to have Adanacs Armstrong tie the game at five and force O/T.

Heading to O/T which is a full 10 minute period and not first goal wins scenario saw the Thunder score three goals in just under 5 minutes jumping out to a 8-5 lead with seconds remaining on the clock.

The Adanacs managed to get one back making it an 8-6 contest with 35 seconds remaining, but for the Adanacs that was all they could manage.

Langley’s Ryan Martel scored on a penalty shot with 8 seconds left late sealing a 9-6 victory for the Thunder who continue to play stellar lacrosse.

The Thunder improve to 3-0 early in the BCJALL season propelling them into a first place tie with the New Westminster and Victoria. goalkeeper Jake Sundar of the Thunder was outstanding as he made 59 saves in the game.

Thunder “tender” Jake Sundar was peppered with 65 shots in the contest allowing 6 while Del Bianco faced 31 allowing 8 goals against.

The Adanacs fell to 2-1 on the season and the loss is their first regular loss at home in over two and half years.

A short two nights later saw the Adanacs rebound in BCJALL game action as they visited the Port Coquitlam Saints putting on a strong offensive show as both teams combined for 25 goals.

The game was entertaining for the fans as the opening period featured 7 goals which saw the Adanacs jump out to a narrow 4-3 lead heading to the intermission.

Coquitlam continued to dominate as they took a 10-8 lead to the dressing room after two, but the Saints continued to throw pressure on the “A’s” keeping the game close with both “tenders” playing exceptional.

The third saw the Adanacs grab five keeping the Saints to only a pair, but it was again the explosive firepower for Coquitlam that allowed them to put the previous loss aside leaving for home with a 15-10 victory.

Del Bianco finished the night facing 34 shots allowing only 10 goals against for a SV% of .706, while Saints Karter Williams faced 65 shots allowing 15 for a SV% of .769 through 60 minutes.
