Still Enjoys The Game

Published on

At times we ask if pro players are over paid and if you look at the career of some the answer to that is a resounding yes, but one stands out that is playing for the fun – and the money is the bonus.

Recently the Panthers came to town and while some went to watch Luongo, others went to watch the elder statesman of the league perform magic.

True Jagr at the young age of 43 has had a stellar career with various teams, but his most recent one has everyone talking about not only his skill, but the fun he brings to the game each and every game.

Some questioned the signing by the Panthers in the April, but given his success it’s helping the Panthers gain extra recognition and fans in the sunshine state.

This past weekend was the Panthers 48th game of the season after defeating Tampa (5-2) as well as giving them an  extra two points in the Atlantic Division.

It was however the 45th game that Jagr suited up for giving him the extra incentive to keep playing as this one game him an extra $1.5 million as part of the one-year extension he signed.

No word on if Jagr has an All-Star Game bonus in his deal. Though, given his wishy-washy nature about the whole event, probably not.

“We have 30 games left and I need to be ready for them,” Jagr said over the weekend, via the Miami Herald’s George Richards, before he decided he would be going to Music City this weekend.

Jagr received the most votes in the Atlantic Division and was named a captain for the revamped All-Star Game in Music City this weekend, but hasn’t firmly committed to attending as of yet.

For the most part Jagr has remained healthy this season and continues to produce while at the same time approaching several NHL milestones.

We are hearing that there is no word of extension talks with GM Dale Tallon, but given his performance he’ll soon be re-signed, but what a catch if he came west?

Over paid or not – he’s worth the money to watch!!
