The Vancouver Stealth snapped 6 game losing streak on the weekend with a win over New England (Sunday) getting a split of their weekend road trip, but lost the previous day to the league leading
Toronto Rock.
This split moved them into third place in the western division standings of the
National Lacrosse League the Stealth are now back in the playoffs picture in the west with a 5-10 record.
They have only three games left in the regular season, two of which two are at home that include a game this Saturday’s at the Langley Event Centre against the
Rochester Kinghthawks at 7:00pm.
The final home game is a key game against the Calgary Roughnecks on May 2 which is fan appreciation night, where the first 1000 fans receive a Stealth lunch kit.
This is a key game as it could decide a playoff spot in the west between these two teams before they conclude their season.
Sunday the Stealth got a five point night from Rhys Duch and Tyler Digby and Corey Small and Joel McCready enjoyed four point nights in the clubs victory to move them in the playoff hunt in the west as Eric Penney made 59 saves between the pipes.
Vancouver led 3-2 after the opening quarter and the teams were even at the half 5-5 Corey Small with a pair and singles to Joel McCready Rhys Duch and Cliff Smith replying for New England were Billings Cockerton Bucktooth and Megill.
Vancouver took control in the second half scoring four goals in the third quarter and twice in the fourth to pull off the victor.
Getting offence from Duch Digby McCready with a pair and Salt as well Schuss to record the win Eric Penney shut down the expansion New England squad with a solid second half.
New England goals in the second half came from Saunders with a pair and singles to Suitor and Bucktooth.
Shots in the game were 68-47 for New England as Penney finished the night with 59 a stellar 59 save performance.
Vancouver improved to 5-10 on the season and New England fell to 4-9.
On Saturday night the Toronto Rock doubled the Stealth 14-7 lead by Brett Hickey with a 11 point night 7 goals and 4 assists other Rock goals were scored by Kevin Crowley with a hat trick Kyle Ross with a pair and singles to LeBlanc and Beirnes.
Scoring for the Stealth Tyler Digby with a pair and singles to Cliff Smith Ilijia Gajic Justin Salt and Corey Small Eric Penney in his third straight start finished with 44 saves on the night.
Toronto improved to 12-4 tops in the league holding a one game lead over the Stealth next opponent Rochester 10-4 while Vancouver fell to 4-10.

He played a huge role in the Lacrosse world and was the Coach for the
Vancouver Stealth.
Sad loss of life and he has left us far too early.
