With pro lacrosse action just around the corner and training camp completed for the Vancouver Stealth, Junior star Johnny Powless is gearing up for a great season.
This along with several “key” moves made by GM Doug Locker they have set their sights on not only making the playoffs, but bringing home the championship Trophy to Langley.
After coming off a stellar Junior season where we watched him play in the 2014 Minto Cup, it was clear he not only has talent, he knows how to use it.
Recently he was named a finalist for the 2014 Lou Marsh Award, recognizing Canada’s Top Athlete in all sports, which is credit to his talent.
Even at this young age he (Powless) has already won three NLL Champion’s Cups, two Mann Cups, and a Minto Cup and has also been awarded the NLL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.
“It is a huge honour for Johnny to be named amongst Canada’s best athletes and extremely well deserved” said Stealth President and General Manager Doug Locker.
When asked about the honor he told the media “I’m humbled to be a finalist for the award and I’d like to thank all my teammates, Family and Friends for their support.”
This year’s list of finalists also included winner – bobsled pilot Kaillie Humphries, tennis player Eugenie Bouchard, tennis player Milos Raonic, and hockey defenseman Drew Doughty.
