Stealth Ink Schuss

This past season we got used to him as the Assistant Coach of the Junior A Delta Islanders and watched him at practice with some of the up-and-coming lacrosse stars in the area.

As a Coach he was patient, yet tolerant with the players and offered advice while working with Head Coach Greg Rennie, Martin O’Neill  and Ryan Keith.

As a group they developed a young talented team into a squad of players that made the play-offs for the first time in several years advancing to the finals against the Coquitlam Adanacs, who went on to represent BC at the 2015 Minto Cup Championship.

At the young age of 24 Schuss (6′, 210lbs) was dealt to the Stealth this past season in a move with the Minnesota Swarm (now Georgia Swarm) where the Stealth send Johnny Powless east for the playing rights of Schuss.

Swarm owner and governor John Arlotta told the media “Due to Logan’s job situation in Vancouver, this season has been difficult for him to make team practices and games and this move is beneficial for both parties, and we wish Logan the best of luck in Vancouver.”

Powless on the other hand was coming off a Minto Cup Championship at the Langley Event Centre and as a player from Ontario, it was understandable that the move east was good for both teams.

Schuss posted 33 points (14g, 19a) and 44 loose balls in nine games in 2015 as well as being named the 2014 NLL Rookie of the Year.

He also recorded 73 points (36g, 37a) in 18 games last season and Minnesota selected Schuss with the first selection (No. 1 overall) in the 2013 NLL Draft.

The Vancouver Stealth have made it official and announced they have signed (forward) Logan Schuss to a three-year contract, of course all pending league (NLL) approval.

Schuss enters his third season in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and first full season with the Stealth and appeared in seven games with Vancouver during the 2015 season.

Logan stated “It is a great feeling knowing I am going to be with the Stealth for the next three years and its an awesome organization that I have really enjoyed playing for, and hope to help the team anyway I can on and off the floor.”

He was the first overall selection in the 2013 NLL draft and in 34 career games, has managed 58 goals and 81 assists for 139 points.

In his first season in the NLL, he was named the Rookie of the Year after registering 73 points (36 goals, 37 assists) in 18 games.

“It is great playing so close to home. A lot of my family and friends were thrilled when they heard about the trade to Vancouver last year. I had about 10-15 members of my family that came out on a nightly basis to watch me play, and it’s a special feeling looking up into the crowd and seeing them.”

Stealth President and General Manager Doug Locker has been thrilled with how Logan has fit into the Stealth organization.

“Logan is a player we wanted to have playing in the Stealth organization for the foreseeable future, and this long term agreement makes that clear. He is one of the top lefthanders in the game and is a threat every time he steps onto the floor. We could not be happier having him with us for the next three years.”logan

With training camp approaching, Schuss is looking forward to getting back on the floor with his teammates.

The Stealth open the 2016 schedule at the Langley Events Centre on January 9 against the New England Black Wolves at 7:00pm PST.

Since Logan calls Ladner home this signing this (long term) deal is extra special for Schuss and the Delta Islanders organization as well as the minor program.

Congrats to Logan on the extension.
