Hockey
Solid 60 Minutes
Friday February 13th see’s the Bruins pay a visit to http://rogersarena.com/ in a match that will no doubt bring out the original six supporters.
Say what you will, the Bruins come to play and over the years have developed a following that relates to that of the Montreal Canadians.
The Canucks recently acquired Delta product Brandon McMillan who made his way back to the lower mainland, the place he got his start playing minor hockey.
On the roster for the Bruins we see former Vancouver (Killarney) player Milan Lucic who sports a record of 53 GP, 11 G, 20 A and 73 PIM’s through 53 games.
The rivalry between both clubs dates back a few years when the Bruins knocked them out of the Cup Finals, which still leaves a “bad taste” with the Canucks organization.
Not only is this game on Friday 13th, it’s the day prior to “Hockey Day in Canada/Delta” which is something that Rogers is proud to feature each year.

As far as intensity goes this is probably one of the most intense fast paced games the fans have been entertained to all season.
Entering this game Ryan Miller has faced more shots (1329) and made more saves (1221) against Boston than all but one other team (Toronto) in his career.
While many in the area are talking about Hockey Day as well as getting an early celebration for Valentines Day, the Canucks are showing their love not only on the ice, but off-ice as well by the promotion of Mindcheck.ca
It’s a foundation that is close to Kevin Bieksa who lost not only a team-mate but also true friend, “Rick Ripen.
After two periods in this game the Canucks were up 3-1 as well as outshooting the Bruins 19-14 and are not looking at having a repeat as happened with the Black Hawks.
Through two periods the Canucks are up 3-1, with two of the goals coming off the stick off Shawn Matthias who had 8:57 ice time on 12 shifts on a 50% winning face-offs.
Shawn finished the night with 3 goals (natural hat-trick) and a +3 with 15:33 ice time over 21 shifts throughout the game.
This game was a tame affair with the Bruins having only two minors to he canucks three, with the third being for Delay of Game for shooting the puck over the glass.
Three stars in the game were as follows:
3rd Star Canucks # 17 R. Vrbata
