Sinclair’s Success

Concacaf comes to BC Place for only the first time in its history and hopes are Canada can qualify for the upcoming Olympics’.Canada’s first game was against Haiti and is the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
This is the third appearance in Women’s Olympics Qualifier event and they have qualified for the Olympics only once – 2008. Canada is unbeaten in the last 5 WOQ, managing four shutouts as well as an all-time record of 7 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss for 29 goals for and 4 goals against.
Team Canada has six former Whitecap players in the roster that include Woeller, Chapman, Scott, Sinclair, Schmidt, and Tancredi. So this could add additional power up-front for the National Team.
Haiti advanced to the finals with a 2-1 win, 1 draw and a 0 loss record in the Caribbean Qualifying with 13 GF and 1 GA.
Hopes are placed high on the National squad, captained by Christine Sinclair of Burnaby and she is up to the task.
When she is asked about her personal accomplishments from the game, she quickly admits “it’s a team sport, but as a team we haven’t really done all that much – yet”.
An example of what she has done, we as Canadian’s know, but those in the US are unaware of her talent.
She is getting more attention than ever before, and she should expect more yet.
The Canadian needs her to continue to hit the back of the net, and on opening night she managed to knock in four goals in the 6-0 win over Haiti. This game was the first game she has played in Vancouver since 2008 when she had an appearance with the Whitecaps.
This is also the first game for the National squad in Vancouver since 2006, so the pressure is on.
Entering the game she had 120 goals and at the young age of 29, is she stays healthy, expect her to reach much higher numbers in all departments.  The photo is her one goal off a penalty kick.
