Seven Game Winning Streak On The Line

With the Whitecaps hosting Montreal and placing a seven game winning streak on the line, this game has the makings of something exceptional for everyone.

capsThe Whitecaps should be well rested as they have not played a game for two weeks prior and given the additional training they have undergone, they are happy to be back on the pitch and at BC Place.

The Caps enter the game riding a club-record seven-game undefeated streak coming off a close 3-3 draw to the  Philadelphia Union, which they should have never have lost or tied.

That game saw them open the scoring in the 18th minute, when Nigel Reo Coker was open and took a pass from Russell Teibert allowing Hurtado to put them on the board.

The 43rd minute saw the Whitecaps double the score when Nicolas Mezquida tapped in a cross pass from Hurtado making this look easy for a possible win – or so they thought.

The Union fought back scoring in the 63rd minute only to be followed by the second goal from Sebastian Le Toux and showing the Whitecaps they were not going to rollover giving up the win or in this case – a tie.

It should be noted that after going 21 games without a goal, Hurtado has now scored a goal in each of his last four games, which included the Canadian Championship.

Here’s hoping that no one bites anyone and the ref makes them play without any diving.

Currently Montreal sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 10 points from twelve games.

Robinson will be forced to make at least one change to his starting lineup on Wednesday, as centre back Jay DeMerits last outing.

DeMerit is expected to (possibly) miss at least six games for the Caps.

This match kicks off a stretch of six games in four weeks for the Blue and White, including two games this week – it will be interesting to see how Robinson handles the centre back situation.

Game on for the Cap’s.
