Entering the season the Eagles had one goal in mind and that that was putting a winning product both on and off the ice, which to date has been achieved.

The first pair of weekend games proved to be a huge success for the Eagles and given the win over the Rivermen in the first game of the season in front of 1,208 fans showed why they are indeed a contender.

Motivation is something that some teams have and other are searching for and entering game two was again entertaining for everyone.

Anytime one team drops a game it becomes a concern for everyone and quite often changes are made for the sake of change, but that wasn’t the case with the Eagles.

Playing against a strong PG club along with the strenuous travel time they were devastated by the pair of losses now finding themselves in a rut.

The continued to play solid, but were simply unable to find focus, but that all turned around as they entered October and secured 7 wins, 4 losses through 11 games.

The month began with Wesley notching a four goal performance that saw the beginning of a stellar month Ty Westgard who went on a roll getting points in all 11 games played with a 12 point streak that saw him finish the month with 26 points.

The midpoint of the month saw former Viper Ryan Brushett notch a hat-trick against his former team giving the Eagles a 5-4 victory while noting that Brushett got the final two goals in the game.

The tying goal came at 12:15 of the third trying the game at four and the game winner that sealed the win came off the stick of Brushett at 18:42 making the ride back much more enjoyable for everyone, especially Brushett!!

While a change was made at the back end, Alex Horawski headed to Pembroke (Lumber Kings) for futures, his spot was filled with the addition of Nic Tallarico from Salmon Arm who pulled off an impressive 4-3 O/T win against his former team with Ross getting the game winner 1:50 into extra time.

The next night had them play the Express a cross-town rival in which they carried the game heading back to home ice with a 4-2 win outshooting the Express by a 36-28 margin giving Davidson his 4th win grabbing a .938 SV% for the month.

Heading into the final game of the month saw them host (again) Prince George who they have come to know almost on a first name basis by now, but that’s not to say that they would take this game lightly.

While the first was aggressive, both played a tentative forcing both Eagles Tallarico and Spruce Kings Cooper to make some remarkable stops, keeping the game scoreless after one.

Stewart got the Eagles on the board first a short 1:19 in notching his 2nd of the season with helpers going to White and Robert.

Never say never and PG managed to get a pair prior to the end of the period taking a 2-1 lead after two, but the third belonged to Surrey.

A quick jump saw Burgart get his 8th of the season with Westgard getting his 20th assist of the early season and Ross getting his 7th assist of the season.

Jumping in saw  Masellis get his 2nd of the season with both Brushett grabbing his 4th assist of the season and Sundquist grabbing his 10th making his Dad proud who was in town for the three game series.

The game and the month came to a conclusion with Schiavon getting his 2nd goal of the season with Wesley notching his 8th assist, showing he is much more than a goal scorer while Westgard wrapped up the month getting his 21st assist.

The Surrey Eagles have three (3) skaters in the top 20 in the BCHL, Ty Westgard (5 Goals/ 21 Assists) for 26 points, while John Wesley sits 10th (14 Goals/8 Assists) good for 22 points followed by Desi Burgart (8 Goals/11 Assists) with 19 points.

October proved to be a success on several fronts for the Eagles, but none more rewarding than knowing they can win both on and off the ice gaining the much needed fan support.  

As October comes to an abrupt close, the trick was winning – which they have proven they can do, and the treat comes for those who follow and watch the Eagles fly to new heights!!

November starts with a trip from the Chilliwack Chiefs on November 3rd followed by a jaunt to town from Merritt on November 5th at 4 pm, with the ever so popular Sunday “fan skate”.
