Rock Stone Stealth
The first back to back weekends for both clubs was not especially great for the Vancouver Stealth who were playing in front of 11,234 fans at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
The Rock at one point were down 6-2 in the first quarter but somehow managed to find their scoring touch, which has been absent since Toronto’s Week 2 win over the Calgary Roughnecks.
The Rock’s 17 goal performance on the night is just one shy than the total over their previous two losses.
“We’ve been struggling a little bit offensively, but six offensive guys played tremendously, which is great to see,” said Rock forward Kasey Beirnes, who scored three tallies on the night.
Cliff Smith scored three goals and helped on two others, and Rhys Duch had two goals and three assists for Vancouver (2-4). Cody Bremmer, Ryler Digby, Alex Gajic, Nick Weiss, Lewis Ratcliffe, Mike Grimes, and Tyler Garrison each added a goal apiece.
Toronto goalie Nick Rose made 35 saves for the victory.
Vancouver’s Tyler Richards played 50:41, allowing 14 goals on 54 shots. Matt Roik played the other 9:18, making six saves on eight shots.
Three Stars of the Game were:
1) Garrett Billings 2) Josh Sanderson 3) Cliff Smith
