The Eagles took their one game winning streak into the “Lodge” in hopes of staying focused as  they move forward to the upcoming games.

While their motive was solid, it was anything but and they were so hard pressed at changing direction, whatever they tried, it never worked in the direction they were hoping for.

The Eagles started Kyle Dumba who is playing in his third game allowing 9 GA, while the Rivermen were starting Braedon Fleming who plays solid between the pipes in all games he hits the ice.

They Eagles pressed, but shots were missed the net by either being blocked, shot wide or simply never got through the traffic out front.

Rivermen got on the board first at 3:40 with a shot sent past Dumba forcing the Eagles to press even more aggressively in the attacking zone.

The first ended with the Rivermen out shooting the Eagles by a 12-8 tally, with some of the eight shots labelled for the back of the net, only to be snagged by Fleming.

The Eagles came out aggressive only to again be turned away by the hot hand of Fleming giving the Rivermen their second of the game at 14:22 with Szeto collecting his second of the season.

The Eagles had chances on the PP, but were unable to get one behind a “stingy” Fleming and with the period coming to a close Langley jumped to a 3-0 lead with Livingston getting his 2nd of the season.

Shots after two were 27-15 for the home team that saw Surrey’s Kyle Dumba face 15 in the second alone, while Fleming faced only 7 with other going wide missing the net.

The third started with a more aggressive style of play for the Eagles only to see them get frustrated with each passing minute and nothing working as they planned.

The first half saw both teams have chances only to be turned aside by the stellar play of both “tenders” and with the third coming to a close the Rivermen managed to two in the last four minutes grabbing a 5-0 lead as the clock was ticking down.

When all was said and done, the first off the ice was Dumba and it was clear you could send the frustration level he felt.

The end result saw the Rivermen out shoot the Eagles by a 39-21 margin that saw both teams need more work on the special teams.

The Eagles went 0-4 on the PP, while the Rivermen were 1-6 in the special teams unit, but for both coaches, it’s a matter of not enough.

The Eagles hit the ice in Chilliwack in less than 24 hours taking on the Chiefs who are also coming off a loss to the Express by a 5-1 margin also being out shot by a 32-22 margin.
