Entering the game against the Chiefs, the second in a week has the Eagles not only focused but wanting to put the 7-1 loss in Penticton behind them.

Surrey were relying on Davidson working magic in the crease while the Chiefs relied on Chenard to backstop the club.

In the pre-game both myself and Greg were mentioning how we were looking forward to having Matthew Campese in the line-up and what he brings to the club taking extra pressure off others, namely Wesley and Westgard.

The Chiefs started with a quick tempo but things would soon change as Ross stopped a breakout on the right side with a stick check forcing a turnover that saw Campese jump on.

The first of two on the night, but this began as Campese quickly took advantage of in front of the Chiefs bench managing to break in on the left side then cutting to the middle sliding it under Chenard through the five-hole at 3:07 giving the Eagles the early lead.

Both teams had several chances but the Eagles took this lead to the dressing room after on also managing to outshot the Chiefs by a 11-7 tally.

With the Eagles hungry for a win on home ice in front of their 817 fans on hand the game took a turn when Campese notched his second of the game while of the PP at 9:40 as Sundquist slid the puck to Westgard on the left side of the net who cut out front getting a shot on Chenard that saw the puck bounce off his blocker sending a rebound to the front right of the net allowing Campese to send another bullet past Chenard giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Surrey maintained the 2-0 lead until the 16:56 mark when Tommy Lee got his 11th of the season getting the Chiefs within on continuing to put pressure on the Eagles.

The eventual game winner was set up by Sundquist who came in off the wing on the left side breaking to the middle deliverd a back pass to Westgard who threw it out from to a waiting Stewart who delivered a “bullet” on target while resting his left knee on the ice.

Playing the game plan set up by the Coaching staff, it was Sundquist that jumped on the rebound on the left side of the net putting in the eventual goal to “seal the deal” for the Eagles.

Playing as a unit and switching the line combinations worked miracles on this night that saw them climb out of the “funk” they were in while in the Interior.

On a side-note it was great to have Jordan Robert in attendance and even nicer to have a pre-game chat with Dad.
