In today’s changing world if teams are to attract paying customers, they have to change the way in which they look and address things and it’s all about marketing.
When was the last time you saw or even heard of a hockey team/club/organization having special jersey’s so as to embrace the community in various areas of the world.
Well – now it been done and this one was by a team called Orebro to celebrate the win on Pride Night.
Not only did they promote they used the greatest colour sweaters you could ever imagine in changing with the times.
Things are never dull for Orebro of the SHL, especially not with Julius Hudacek in goal and after a 4-2 win over visiting Frolunda the Orebro goaltender (Hudacek) showed his other talents in celebration.
But this was different as he had some of his teammates join in the fun and with his six teammates, they showed off their skill with dance “Disco” moves to the song by The Village People, the YMCA.
The celebration was a part of the post-game celebration following Pride Night and that is why they used “Rainbow” jerseys.
Prior to the game it was interesting to see the entire team, staff and players take part in the Pride parade.
I am told that throughout the game the team recognized the importance of equal rights encouraging the many fans on hand to wear rainbow ribbons.
The team web site states: “Pride game is more than just a game, more than just a stunt,” says their website.
Congrats to the Orebro team, ownership and management in taking this on.
Clearly something not every team would think of doing!!
