The park was named after Ernest Callaway |Manning who was the Chief Forester of BC and tragically passed away in 1941 and was instrumental in developing setting land aside for future generations.
The highway was opened in 1949 so as to provide a transportation connection between the coast and the interior, but it wasn’t until 1967 and 1970 that the Blue and Orange Chair’s were installed.
Given the weather conditions on the coast in 2010, snow was trucked from Manning Park to the hills on the lower mainland for a successful Olympics.
