The 2011 RBC Canadian Open wraps up with the sun setting on an event that has inspired many new fan’s in the world of golf.
Adam Hadwin managed to finish with a -2 and a total score of 278 when many might have counted him out.
He has earned the right to play at this event and given the professionalism he displays, he’s got a great future in the game.
He had the pressure on him from day two and his following became as hot as the weather. For any youngster to have this pressure is understandable, but he was managing.
The final group was coming up to the 18th and everyone was still in a media scrum with Adam. First he was with CBS, then the Golf Channel and finally the local media had a crack at him.
He did as anyone would expect a Canadian to be. Humble and honest making no excuses for the game he played and gave full credit to his caddy, the tournament directors and the volunteers.
While he was holding his own press conference, the last threesome were finishing off, only to have an extra hole played between Sean O’Hair and Kris Blanks.
Sean beat him out and when he came to talking to the media he mentioned he had been reading the last few night’s. He was asked what he was reading?
He mentioned “I was reading James 2, verse 2-6 as it talks about adversity and how to be yourself and what it mean’s. I continued to repeat these words over and over and it helped me out”.
He has played in several event’s in the past but never been to Vancouver in the past and was upset that he did not get a chance to spend time sight-seeing the town, but maybe next time. He did mention “I will make sure that everyone know’s about this event and how great it is”.
Shaughnessy proved to be an exceptional setting for this Championship, but it could not have happened without the assistance of the many volunteers – who made this happen.
The one that claimed to be the friend of the “fan’s” John Daly finished at two (2) over par, but he’s quite the individual. Classy and a normal person that know’s what life has to offer.

As the sun set’s on this year’s event, Hamilton is set to host the 2012 RBC Championship.
