Anyone that attended the recent Rugby Matches at Swanguard Stadium recently was certainly entertained by the skill of the players as well as the talent the players displayed from all teams.Swangard Stadium

Canada was impressive to watch and as they enter the Rugby World Cup, we can only hope that they can live up to the hype surrounding this event, both in Canada and Great Britain.

Opening weekend saw more than 100,000 enthusiastic fans enjoy Rugby World Cup 2015 action in Fanzones across the country.

This is the first time for a Rugby world Cup to have an official Fanzone in every host city and it’s expected that over 1 million will visit these throughout the six week tournament.

Fanzones in Richmond, Rugby, Cardiff, Leeds, Brighton, Exeter, Gloucester and Birmingham opened their doors across Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September to welcome fans and celebrate rugby up and down the country.

Whilst just over 30,000 fans packed into the Brighton Community Stadium to witness Japan’s electrifying 34-32 Pool B win over South Africa, Brighton’s Madeira Drive Fanzone saw 20,000 fans soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the action and feel part of a truly international event.

Cardiff’s Fanzone in Cardiff Arms Park has proven especially popular in the opening weekend, with over 35,000 attendees across the three days.cardiff park

Stephen Brown, Managing Director of England Rugby 2015 told the media “The Fanzones were a crucial part of our delivery plan for the Tournament so we’re thrilled that the opening weekend of Rugby World Cup 2015 has seen such a huge number of fans coming along, enjoying the experience and watching some exciting Rugby.

It’s another Tournament first to have an official Fanzone in every Host City, plus central London and Rugby, and we have worked with all our Host Cities, Local Authorities and the Mayor of London to identify a range of fantastic locations to give fans, residents and visitors a focal point for celebrating the Tournament and the wider game of Rugby.”

As well as the seven Fanzones already in action, Fanzones in Leicester, Manchester, Newcastle, Milton Keynes, Trafalgar Square, Newham and Brent will be opening their doors over the coming weeks.

Fanzones are free and are open on match-days and at varying times across the six week Tournament providing fans, residents and visitors with the opportunity to enjoy the build-up and join the nationwide celebration of Rugby.

Trafalgar Square will be open from the weekend of the semi-finals until the Final and include entertainment, food and drink, and rugby activities on the semi-final, Bronze Final and Final match-days.

The Square, along with a number of the Official Fanzones, will play host to grassroots and community rugby initiatives and events to celebrate the game and the wider Tournament.
