North Delta’s Bardaro Aims High

Growing up in North Delta and following the footsteps of others who have advanced to the pro level is one area that keep’s Anthony Bardaro focused.

He played his minor then made his WHL debut during the 2008-09 season playing in seven (7) games for the Spokane Chiefs who drafted him 122nd overall in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.

He played in the BC Major Midget League with the Greater Vancouver Canadians for 40 games in the 2007-08 season managing to grab 23 goals and 23 assists along with plus 46 PIM’s.

Then moved on to play with the Aldergrove Kodiaks in the PJHL and in 13 games he managed a league-leading 13 goals and 32 points.

While there he also has an eight-point cushion on the PJHL’s second leading scorers and teammate Thomas Hardy and Richmond Sockeye Bradley McGowan (tied with 24 points apiece).

This is where he where helped the expansion Kodiaks to a Harold Brittain conference leading 9-5-0-1 record, leading Kodiaks head coach Rick Harkins to state “Bardaro still has room to grow, both physically and as a hockey player.”

He continued “He still needs to get some size on him,” Harkins said. “He avoids getting hit and there are a lot of teams out there that take runs at him.”

The following season he split between the Surrey Eagles in the BCHL (26 GP, 4G, 14A) and the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL where he dressed for 7 games gathering 2 assists.Kodiaks Bardaro

The following season saw him stick with the Chiefs where he played for three seasons only to be dealt to the Prince Albert Raiders where he finished his WHL career in 2012-13 with 70 games played for PA with 25G, 32A and 48 PIM’s prior to moving on to UBC.

He is currently in his third season with the “T-Birds” who are # 8-ranked where he has been a major contributor for a team that hosted a home playoff game for the first time in more than four decades last season.

Currently the T-Birds are off to a 6-0-2 start to the 2015-16 regular season and looking at once again hosting yet another play-off game in the spring of 2016.

In 64 career Canada West regular season games, Bardaro – an Arts student – has 57 points to go with his 10 career playoff points in as many games.
