If one thing is certain when it comes to sports, it’s that as a fan you want someone calling the game that not only understands the game, but enjoys doing it.
The BC Lions were in a pickle or the station was when former host/play by play man Rick Ball tendered his resignation a week giving notice that he was leaving for the City Lights and taking up residence in Calgary – home of the Stampede.
So what’s next for the team you ask?
Well it never took long but in sticking close to home they managed to get Scott Rintoul to say yes and from there it’s a marriage made under the Dome of BC Place.
Scott has paid his dues and while his voice is not that of a Rick Ball, he will bring the play calling as precise as he can and keep you informed as to the plays both on and off the field.
For the remainder of this season it will be Rintoul calling games for the rest of the season and beyond (maybe) all depending on what those in charge at Team 1040 say and if and only if they strike a new deal for radio rights for 2015 and beyond.
At the young age of 39 he now gets to work in football and soccer play-by-play all as a new Dad, distance runner, a nightly talk-show gig plus a little volunteer coaching the UBC Thunderbirds on the side.
Sportswave wish’s Scott all the best and know he’ll do a great job in bringing you the “call of the game”!!
