Truth and Reconciliation Day
National Truth And Reconciliation Day
Today marks a day for Canada and all Canadians to come together as one to listen and learn about the history and cultures of different nationalities.
The past while we have heard about the ongoing trauma that was caused by residential school and now it’s a time for us to honour the children who have suffered in the residential school system.
September 30th marks Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation where nonindigenous persons should listen to the survivors stories of how they were taken away from their way of life, homes and families.
For Canadians it is the opportunity for us to create and foster a meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the perilous legacy they have left behind.
It’s a time for all Canadians to create a bridge to bond together with everyone and a day for all survivors to be reaffirmed that any speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on race, religion, sex or sexual orientation to be stopped.
CANADA MUST COME TOGETHER AND LEARN FROM THE PAST!!!
The Indian Residential Schools Crisis Line (1-866-925-4419) is available 24 hours a day for anyone experiencing pain or distress as a result of their residential school experience.
