Moving Isn’t An Option

When you reach the part of your career you realize in order to advance to the next level, it’s time to move from the comfort of home to a billet Family and in some cases another Province.

Such is the case of four local players who realized that same dream earlier in the week and for them, moving east is a must.

Maybe it’s the thought you might not play Junior hockey in your home and have to make the choice, which can for some be extremely difficult.

The Estevan Bruins are proud to announce that we have signed 4 players for the 2016-17 season.

Reflecting on the 1998 defenseman Brendan Mark, (1997) forward Hayden Guilderson, (1998) defenseman Davin Padgham, and 1998 forward Isaac Embree were signed shortly after the June 1st signing day opened up.

Brendan Mark (Grand Rapids, Minnesota, 6’0, 182 lbs) joins the Bruins after a successful high school hockey career in Minnesota recording 16 points in 25 games (2015-16) managing 14 points in 25 games the prior season.

He (Mark) is billed as a two-way defender with upside in both ends of the rink, which gives the coaching staff more options for his use.

Hayden Guilderson (Chilliwack 5’9, 182 lbs) spent the last two seasons with the Abbotsford Pilots in the PIJHL (BC Jr B. league) suiting up for 1 game with the BCHL Chilliwack Chiefs.

Guilderson recorded 51 points in 40 games with Abbotsford last season (13 goals, 38 assists) which was good for 10th in league scoring. Prior to his time in the PIJHL, Guilderson played with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in the BC Major Midget League recording 31 points in 40 games.

Guilderson is a speedy forward who shows the ability to play physical as well as put up solid numbers.

Davin Padgham (Chilliwack, BC, 5’10, 192 lbs) spent last season with the Aldergrove Kodiaks in the PIJHL where the offensive defenseman recorded more than a point per game with 43 points in 42 games (9 goals, 34 assists) which was good for 18th in overall league scoring as a 17 year old.

That’s not all though, as he also registered 117 penalty minutes too. Padgham also dressed for 4 games with the Merritt Centennials in the BCHL, and the year prior to last year he played with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds, the same program as Guilderson, in the BC Major Midget League recording 35 points in 40 games with 132 PIMS.

Finally, Isaac Embree (Delta, BC, 6’2, 209 lbs) spent the last two seasons with the Delta Hockey Academy and also suited up for several games each season with the Delta Ice Hawks of the PIJHL.

In 35 games last season, Embree posted 43 points including 19 goals and 24 assists along with 72 penalty minutes. Embree is described as a power forward who puts himself in a position to score when he’s on the ice.
