Given the recent hype of the MLS Championship match we are hearing that there is or could possibly be an issue surrounding the collective bargaining agreement with the league.

It’s reported that the head of the Major League Soccer Players Association said players are prepared to strike if they can’t negotiate an acceptable collective bargaining agreement. 

 MLSPA Executive Director Bob Foose was on a conference call with members of the media stating “We’ve been talking about and preparing for a work stoppage for two and a half years now at this point, and talking about the details of what that would look like and how it would proceed, and how we would all work together.” 

He continued “And the players are very serious when they say they’re ready to do what’s best for the full player pool and the future of the players association and the league.”

Following the recent success of the MLS Championship match in Seattle, this may just be the next big news that the league has to offer until the start of the 2020 season.

The current collective bargaining agreement expires on Jan. 31.
