Just maybe he never liked Phoenix or the heat, but going from Phoenix seems shocking to some, but he is for sure entering the “hot zone” working under Brian Burke.
Making it official Burke spent time to do a search and best found the man fit for his team with the hiring of Brad Treliving as their new GM.
Treliving has served as the Phoenix Coyotes assistant general manager since 2007, he also handled duties as general manager of the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates.
The 44-year-old Penticton, B.C. native was the President of the Central Hockey League for seven years before joining the Coyotes organization.
Flames president of hockey operations Brian Burke has been the acting general manager since firing GM Jay Feaster and assistant GM John Weisbrod on December 12, 2013.
The Flames missed the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season in 2013-14 and finished with 77 points, their lowest 82 game point total since 2002-03.
The team made the playoffs in each of their four seasons without an owner before failing to reach the post-season the past two seasons.
Treliving’s duties also included managing the professional and amateur scouting staffs and making player personnel assignments to the team’s minor-league affiliates.
Treliving, who played in the International Hockey League, AHL and ECHL, is the son of Boston Pizza co-owner Jim Treliving.
Interesting and ironic as the farm team the Abbotsford Heat are also making a move for the franchise.
