While the off-season might be underway for some teams, the BC Lions are still in full swing and the recent signings showed the dedication to the community in hopes of bringing an eventual Grey Cup to Vancouver.

In a press release earlier  the BC Lions have agreed to terms with Linebacker Solomon Elimimian on a to a two-year contract through the 2018 season.

A tough player not just for BC, but tough to play against he (Elimimian) was the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player for 2016 was set to hit the free agent market next February.

“Solomon’s achievements as a football player are significant and this is a very big signing for our club,” said Buono. “He is an important part of our defence, a leader in our dressing room and I know how important it is for our fans to have Solomon back with us.”

He is the only player in the history of the CFL to win three (3) different player awards and that award is given exclusively to a defensive player in addition to him winning the Most Outstanding Player Award in 2014.

It’s obvious that his resume on the road to that of a CFL Hall of Fame candidate in the years ahead following retirement.

He is a three-time CFL All-Star and a four-time West Division selection, Elimimian is on the cusp of franchise history heading into next season.

He has 575 career tackles putting him only 12 defensive stops behind Dante Marsh’s all-time team mark of 587.

This includes his combined total of 605 stops (including special teams tackles) places him just behind Marsh’s 609.

“BC is the only place I want to be and I’m elated to be signing back with the Lions,” said Elimimian while on an off-season trip to Africa. “We have all the ingredients of a championship team and I can’t wait to get back on the field and get to work in 2017.”
