Lions Gaining Yardage

Published on

Given the turmoil the BC Lions went through last season, it’s only right that they start the 2016 season off gaining yardage off the field, then focus on the field.

Head Coach and GM Wally Buono made it official and introduced the 2016 members of the coaching staff, which include Mark Washington as the Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach and putting Khari Jones as Offensive Coordinator and Q-Back Coach.

Buono told the members of the media “I’m pleased to have Khari and Mark leading their respective units next season as they’re both coaches who have been part of championship staffs in the past, they are effective teachers and leaders and I believe our players will respond to their approach.”

Also returning as the offensive line coach is Dan Dorazio who was with Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2015 season.

The new “kid on the block” this year is veteran CFL coach Marcel Bellefeuille who will coach the club’s receiving corps after serving as offensive coordinator in Winnipeg last season.

Robin Ross returns to the defensive coaching staff working under Mark Washington, but will focus on the linebackers as the former linebackers coach (Johnny Holland) is looking at possible coaching south of the border in the NFL.

Wally also mentioned “I will be meeting with more candidates in coming days and hope to round-out the staff over the next couple of weeks.”

It’s been an interesting off-season and I for one, can’t wait till kick-off.
